Sakina Kamwendo (born 21 September 1979) is a South African OAP and Presenter. She gained prominence for being the voice behind AM Live.

The on-air personality gained more prominence for being the host of the talk show Talk With Sakina. The show is always aired in South Africa on the station Metro FM.

Early Life

She was born on 21 September 1979 in South Africa. The actress was raised in the country on the southernmost tip of the African continent. 


She was registered in a reputable school for her primary school education. After which, Sakina furthered her academic pursuit at Stanwest Secondary School. 

After successful matriculation and graduation from secondary school, she enrolled at Wits. She graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a degree.


She started her radio career when she got a job at a network station in Eldorado Park called Radio Eldos. Sakina walked into the spotlight after Talk Radio 702 allowed her to screen calls for the overnight show. 

She later evolved to host weekends and breakfast shows. Sakina worked full-time at the Maths Centre, she also became a traffic reporter at the David O’Sullivan show.

She later quit working at the Maths Centre to focus on her broadcasting career. She anchors Morning Live on SABC2 and SABC News Channel. The award-winning personality on SAfm Update at Noon 104-107fm.

    1. I also have a Malawian Surname but born in Durban South Africa, we have a lot of Southern African surnames here in South Africa since the time Gold was discovered, so I don’t know why it’s that Important with Sakina, we have o Phiri, Banda, Kaunda , Mwali and many more.

    1. No one seems to know much about her wherebouts and she has become so questionable of late. It looks like South African media is filled with Zimbabweans disguising as South Africans and the disappointing fact is that they seem to have an agenda that does not benefit South Africans. That is just bad 😕
