The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) have confirmed their social grant payment dates for the month of December, 2023.

If you are a social grant recipient, then one of the first questions you will have is when to expect or collect your grant payment.

For approved grant recipients, SASSA funds should become available on the following dates.

Here’s when to expect your social grant for the month of December.

All SASSA grant payment dates

According to SASSA, social grant payments will become available to recipients from the first of December, 2023.


The first social grant that will be paid is the Older Persons (Pensioners) Grant on Friday, 1 December.

After this, the next social grant is the Disability Grant on Monday, 4 Decemlber.

All other grants, such as the R350-SRD grant, will be paid out on Tuesday, 5 December.

SASSA grant collection

If you receive any of the above social grants, you should be able to expect your payment on the stated date. Funds will become available for withdrawal, or you will be able to access your social grant at any of the stated pay points.

Participating stores like PnP, Boxer Stores and Spar can help you to withdraw your SASSA grant. Alternatively, you can arrange to have your social grant paid directly into your nominated bank account.

If your grant was not approved, you have 30-days from the date to lodge an appeal with the South African Social Security Agency. Reassessment might mean that you could still get your grant approved.
