Saturday’s DStv Premiership match between Chippa United and Kaizer Chiefs will go ahead as planned, according to the league.
This despite the tragic passing away of Amakhosi defender Luke Fleurs this week.
Fleurs was shot dead in a suspected highjacking in Johannesburg, and the league was perhaps expected to postpone this encounter as Chiefs players are mourning.
However, that’s not the case, meaning Chiefs have already travelled to Gqeberha for this league match.
CHIPPA VS CHIEFS MATCH TO GO AHEAD AS PLANNED
“As far as I know, there’s no postponement but if there’s any we will let you know,” said PSL media manager Fhatuwani Mpfuni.
AMAKHOSI HOLD PRAYER FOR LUKE FLEURS
On Thursday, the entire Chiefs family had a moment of silence and a prayer session in remembrance of the late defender.
The league and several PSL clubs also paid tribute to Fleurs who had just joined them on a free transfer.
Fleurs joined Chiefs following his shock departure from SuperSport United where he was deemed surplus to requirements.
The unfortunate part is that Fleurs passed away without kicking a ball in competitive matches for Chiefs.
