Kaizer Chiefs youngster Neo Bohloko is scoring for fun in this season’s DStv Diski Challenge. Here are his stats.

Neo Bohloko made Diski Challenge Kaizer Chiefs history

In February 2023, Bohloko became the youngster goal-scorer in DDC history when he was just 14. He’s in the Golden Boot race this season, currently with 13 strikes to his name with nine matches left in the season. He started the campaign slowly, scoring just twice before the mid-season break for Afcon. He’s returned in red-hot form in 2024 with 11 goals in eight outings since.

Is he too good for this level of football, even at his tender age? It appears so.

CHIEFS TO RELEASE TRIO OF UNDERPERFORMERS

According to the Citizen, talented utility midfielder George Matlou has struggled to have an impact with the Glamour Boys since moving there from Soweto rivals Swallows. Soccer Laduma believes that Happy Mashiane is leaving because of a lack of first-team minutes, and they’re also categorical about Colombian striker Jasond Gonzalez’s imminent exit. The 24-year-old former Real Santa Cruz man has yet to break his goal-scoring duck for the Glamour Boys and will return to the Bolivian club after his loan spell at the end of June.

AMAKHOSI FIXTURES ON THE HORIZON

Chiefs must wait until Saturday, March 30th when they travel to Cape Town to face Cape Town City. Amakhosi lost last season’s corresponding fixture on the final day to lose out of fourth place to the Citizens. Kickoff in that match is at 15:30. The turnaround time to their next fixture is a short one, with a clash against Stellenbosch on Tuesday 2 April at 19:30. That’s followed by a trip to Chippa on Saturday 6 April with kickoff at 15:00.

Meanwhile, the club’s rearranged/postponed meeting with TS Galaxy still doesn’t have a confirmed date. Chiefs lie 7th in the table, four points adrift of second-placed Pirates. The Buccaneers, of course, currently occupy the CAF Champions League qualification spot that Amakhosi would love to fill come the end of the season.

What would you do if you were Chiefs management? Would you loan Bohloko out to another top-flight side hoping he can get valuable first-team minutes or let him carry on rattling in the goals at DDC level? Let us know in the comments.
