In a fixture that always delivers, the Springboks and All Blacks are set to clash in an enticing showdown at Ellis Park on Saturday.

The Rugby Championship is back after a one-week break in play and the action kicks off with a delicious encounter between the high-flying Springboks and a New Zealand side dead set on re-establishing their status as the best team in the world after a difficult few months in the Test arena.

On the back of their World up final win over the All Blacks, the Springboks have accumulated wins over Ireland, Wales, Portugal and Australia (twice) this season.

By contrast, the All Blacks clinched a series win over England and beat Fiji once, but they slumped to an opening round Rugby Championship defeat against Argentina before beating Los Pumas the following week to at least keep their impressive unbeaten streak at Eden Park in tact.

SPRINGBOKS VS ALL ALL BLACKS: STATS AND FACTS

In the 106 Tests between these nations, the Springboks have won 40, lost 62 and drawn four for a 38% win rate. Additionally, South Africa have scored 1741 points and 168 tries, while conceding 2196 points and 240 tries.

As for recent history, the Springboks were victorious in the last two Tests in this fixture – the Qatar Cup match at Twickenham and the 2023 Rugby World Cup final in Paris. A win at Ellis Park this week, will see South Africa notch up a record-equalling third straight over the All Blacks, which was set in 2009.

That said, the All Blacks seem to have the Springboks’ measure at Ellis Park. The New Zealand are currently on a hot streak at the renowned venue, winning three of the last four Tests there, dating back to 2013.
