Career
Sean Dyche was a youth player at Nottingham Forest in the late 1980s during Brian Clough’s tenure as manager. Early on, Dyche‘s career was impacted by a broken leg, which he claims held him back and left him with a permanent bend in his leg.
He was also present for the Hillsborough disaster, having traveled with the Forest youth to the stadium. Dyche left Forest in 1990 without making a first-team appearance and signed for Chesterfield, where he later became captain.
He was part of the Chesterfield team that reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 1997, scoring a penalty in their 3-3 draw with Middlesbrough. Chesterfield lost the replay 3-0.
Dyche then moved to Bristol City in 1997, helping them gain promotion to Division One in his first season. Over his playing career, he represented several clubs, including Luton Town, Millwall, Watford, and Northampton Town, earning promotion with three of his six clubs.
After retiring, Dyche re-joined Watford as an under-18s coach in 2007 before being promoted to assistant manager in 2009. He later had a brief spell with the England under-21 team before being appointed Burnley manager in October 2012, succeeding Eddie Howe.
At Burnley, Dyche guided the club to consistent Premier League finishes, including a 16th-place finish in 2016-17, which guaranteed consecutive seasons in the top flight for the first time in the Premier League era.
In January 2023, Dyche was appointed the new Everton manager, replacing Frank Lampard. In his first game in charge, Everton defeated league leaders Arsenal 1-0.
