Kaizer Chiefs are working tirelessly to rebuild the squad with new players following the arrival of a new technical team.
The Amakhosi management started this process by getting rid of the entire technical team that worked last season.
Nassredine Nabi wwas brought in to try and steer the Chiefs ship in the right direction and he came his own backroom staff.
On 11 July, Chiefs officially announced the entire technical team with Khalil Ben Youssef ad Nabi’s first assistant and Fernando Da Cruz as his second.
Ilyes Mzoughi replaced Aubrey Mathibe as Amakhosi’s new goalkeeper coach while Safi Majdi is Strength and Conditioning coach and assistant coach.
Now, Chiefs have moved to the playing personnel, and they started with getting rid of those who will not form part of the squad this season.
KAIZER CHIEFS HAVE AXED FIVE PLAYERS TO DATE
Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with no fewer than FIVE players, and this happened all at once.
S’fiso Hlanti, Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Siyethemba Sithebe and Jasond Gonzalez were all let go.
Some, from the abovementioned, have already found new homes in the PSL, and they Sithebe (Richards Bay FC) and Ngcobo (Sekhukhune United).
Dolly was, at one stage, close to joining SuperSport United but the deal fell through, and Gavin Hunt opted for Vincent Pule.
He and Hlanti are still looking for clubs while Gonzalez headed to South America to rejoin parent club Real Santa Cruz.
The lanky striker was at Chiefs on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy but the Soweto giants opted not to take it.
Now, the exit list is expected to grow further before the current transfer window closes as Itumeleng Khune’s future is still hanging in the balance.
Decisions on a number of players who didn’t feature much last term are still to be made once Nabi has made up his mind.
THE FIVE PLAYERS WHO JOINED AMAKHOSI
Nabi and the Chiefs management have been strategical in who they bring to the club for the current campaign.
When Gaston Sirino became available from Mamelodi Sundowns, Chiefs didn’t hesitate to sign him on a freed transfer.
However, the first player to be brought in by Chiefs was left-back Bongani Sam from arch-rivals Orlando Pirates.
The Glamour Boys then bolstered their goalkeeping department with the acquisition of Fiacre Ntwari from TS Galaxy.
Rushwin Dortley then arrived from Cape Town Spurs while Chiefs recently announced centre-back Inacio Miguel from Petro de Luanda.
