Miss Universe hopeful Chidimma Adetshina has cheekily liked several comments by her followers who mocked her “country of birth,” South Africa.  She’s also clapped back at many of her critics.

This, despite her facing criminal charges back “home” relating to identity theft and corruption, as outlined by the Department of Home Affairs.

In recent months, Chidimma has gone from a Miss SA finalist to the winner of Miss Universe Nigeria, where she is competing for the ultimate crown.

The 73rd Miss Universe takes place on Saturday, 16 November in Mexico. South Africans will be able to watch via the YouTube channel in the early hours of Sunday morning.

CHIDIMMA LIKES MESSAGES ABOUT MZANSI, CLAPS BACK AT CRITICS

On her TikTok account, Chidimma Adetshina – who has had her SA passport and identity revoked – has been issuing several clapbacks at many South Africans.

When one TikToker commented: “Love you here from Soweto,” Chidimma responded: “Well, I don’t.”

Another had insinuated that she was older than she claimed to be, to which Chidimma responded: “And you’re still broke.”

She also liked messages from trolls that read, “South Africa doesn’t have any peace!” and “I know some people in South Africa are having headaches right now!”

In various interviews, the 23-year-old has stated that she has “no intention” of returning to South Africa. Instead, she appears to be taking up residence in Nigeria, her father’s birth country.

NOT DEFENDING MIA LE ROUX

Chidimma Adetshina has also been criticized for not putting a stop to nasty trolls who mocked South Africa’s Mia Le Roux, who withdrew from the Miss Universe pageant at the eleventh hour.

After being crowned Miss SA in August, Mia defended Chidimma against cyber bullies. Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, Mia claimed that her former pageant colleague did not receive hate on social media.

She said: “It was extremely hard for us because each one of us personally knows and loves Chichi. We truly believe that she did not deserve it, as we know she’s phenomenal, powerful, and beautiful in her own right. She deserved her spot on Miss South Africa.”

Responding to Chidimma’s critics, the Miss SA queen said, “I stand for unity. I do not stand for people being divided. So, I do think we can do better in that aspect to support and include one another. Because she was excluded, and that is not okay.”
