He was born to parents Joseph Angélil and Alice Angélil, who were Melkite Greek Catholic Church members. Angélil was the oldest of two children, with a younger brother, André, born in 1945.
Angélil received his education at Collège Saint-Viateur (high school) in Outremont and Collège André-Grasset (post-secondary) in Montreal. Angélil was of mixed Middle Eastern heritage. Career
