After winning the Rugby Championship, some members of the Springbok squad will soon gather for a one-week training camp in Jersey – one of the largest of the Channel Islands between England and France.

This will primarily focus around their conditioning and preparation for the November tour, when they will face Scotland, England and Wales.

However, it is expected that a few players won’t be available for selection due to injury, including two World Cup winners: Steven Kitshoff (neck) and and Lood de Jager (shoulder).

Rising star Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu (knee) is expected miss out as he recovers from surgery, while Evan Roos is unlikely to be considered after recently going under the knife with a shoulder injury.

Furthermore, it’s now been confirmed that Salmaan Moerat – who has featured in seven Tests this year, and served as captain in three of them – will also miss the November internationals after undergoing an operation on a knee injury.

Stormers assistant coach Dawie Snyman confirmed that Moerat is expected to be back for the coastal derby against the Sharks in Durban on 30 November.

“Salmaan isn’t available for next week’s game [against Glasgow Warriors],” Snyman said. “He will be available at the end of November. He had a small procedure.”
